Will Republicans Listen? Probably Not.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell lays out a plan for handling the Sotomayor hearings, affirmative action, and how Republicans generally might return to electoral popularity.

Will the Republican leadership listen?  No.  They’re too busy bashing non-existent socialist bogeymen and organizing tea parties.

Oh, well.  He tried.

  1. He says that Sotomayer is balance and tries to follow the law.
WTF? She’s been overturned by higher courts at a ridiculous rate. He is saying that Sotomayer is called a racist because of one tricky case. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. She is called a racist because of numerous statements saying that one race is better than another and membership in La Raza.

His description of affirmative action is the way its SUPPOSED to work, not the way it is truly implemented. Colleges pass over more qualified students that are the wrong race. Firemen are not promoted because members of one race did not score high enough on a test. Quotas are the rule, not the exception.
Its funny how he supports affirmative action now, but, years ago, he proudly said that he advanced without it.

He first says that he thinks that the country is best served by two strong parties that stand for different things. Then, decries partisanship. He voted for Reagan, but also LBJ and Carter. He voted for both Bushes. Ok. He’s a Republican. But he’s an idiot. And a Quisling Republican.

When you vote for, endorse, and campaign for the opposing party, you automatically give up your membership. When I became a delegate, I had to affirm that I had not voted in a Democratic primary or supported that party. And he wants to be a Republican authority? Why? Apparently we do everything wrong. Why does he associate himself with the GOP?
